Welp, they did it again. Nike’s line of Air Jordan golf shoes specializes in turning heads and generating hype, and that’s exactly what’s happening again this week with the release of the latest Air Jordan 9 G shoes, now in the White / University Blue color option.
So let’s break down all of the latest improvements and innovations that have gone into this reimagining of a 1993 classic, and lay out a quick history of the Jordan brand in the golf space – a space they are consistently growing and succeeding in.
Jordan Golf: A Brief History
Not long after PGA Tour pro Keegan Bradley met Michael Jordan at the 2012 Ryder Cup and they started talking about the Jordan brand trying golf shoes, Bradley went to Oregon to do some testing and eventually began wearing Jordan as a brand ambassador – one of the few in pro golf still to this day.
By 2015 the Jordan brand started releasing shoes to the general public, and have gone on to do everything from brand new ideas to retro styles in the Jordan 1s, 5s, 6s, 9s, 11s and so on, with the certain limited edition golf shoes often becoming huge items on the resale market.
The Latest Retro Release
Hitting FairwayStyles on Friday, August 16th, is the new Air Jordan 9 G in White / University Blue. The 9 G drew direct inspiration from the 1993 classic basketball shoe, which was released during Jordan’s first year in of his first retirement. Along with golf-related additions like seven removable spikes and a leather strip on the back for added swing stability, the 9 G has been updated with a memory foam insole that sits directly under your foot for extra cushioning.
This 9 G also comes with a synthetic leather tongue designed for comfort against your ankle, and waterproof layers to keep your feet dry and warm in wet conditions. Plus they are easy to clean after traveling through some taller grass – which is always clutch with your Jordans.
Keeping Your Jordan Options Open
This Air Jordan 9 G comes on the heels – pun intended – of another popular release recently, the Air Jordan 1 Low G Spikeless in Armory Navy / Storm White, which have rivaled the Jordan 1 Low G Spikeless in Wolf Grey / White as perhaps the coolest looking 1 Low G option that Jordan offers. Ok ok, the Black ones are cool too.
Of course there are a couple other Air Jordan 9 G options that are already out, one with the more classic color scheme of White/Red/Black and another with a more modern two-tone Gray, both offering the same comfort and durability features that we’ve already discussed.
If you’re feeling something a little less retro and a little more new and innovative, the Air Jordan ADG 5 ‘24 Spikeless in Black / Red and White / Red options are the way to go. They are upgrades of a previous ADG 5 model, and have a padded collar, a cushioned insole and an internal fit system for a more stable and comfortable inner shoe.
And hey, if we’re gonna be talking about Jordan golf, we have to mention the super rad Jordan Fadeaway golf bags, with premium leather construction, 6-way full length dividers and velour-lined pockets. The real issue here is trying to decide between the different color options.
Ok, once you’ve updated your shoe and bag game, check back with FairwayStyles for more Jordan and other can’t-miss releases!
