When the women of Team USA take to the course at Le Golf National outside Paris in August, world No. 1 Nelly Korda, Lilia Vu and Rose Zhang will already be looking like winners. And we’re not talking about Korda’s dominance in golf already this year – although that doesn’t hurt – but rather the J. Lindeberg uniforms that the team will be shining bright in. Shiny like a medal, perhaps?
The brand’s Chief Creative Officer, Neil Lewty, spoke with FairwayStyles recently to discuss how they approached the tall task of dressing Team USA.
“The main theme behind designing these uniforms was to blend American pride with high-performance functionality,” he said. “We wanted to create a collection that not only looks amazing but also meets the high demands of elite athletes.”
And here’s a look at what you might expect from those elite athletes when they tee it up for their country. Starting with what immediately stands out: a large variety of tops that blend different options with collars and sleeves, performance features and the standard trio of patriotic colors. For instance the Clarisse Knitted SL shirt provides a classy sleeveless look, the Yvette shirt is made from J. Lindeberg’s proprietary technical fabric that helps keep you cool, and the Alizee Seamless shirt is all about optimal fit and comfort.
But we weren’t kidding when we called it a large variety of tops, because it’s also worth mentioning pieces like the Daphne Sleeveless shirt, the Felicite shirt and the Desiree shirt, all bringing their own unique looks to the table.
There is also plenty to choose from for the women when it comes to bottoms. Along with a couple of pants options, the collection features the Gwen shorts with a lightweight stretch fabric, the Elle Pleated skort with optimal comfort and freedom, and the Giselle Solid skort that has center front slits for enhanced movement.
When it comes to outerwear for Team USA, variety is once again key. The Josette Knit sweater is a form fitting rib mock-neck that is made from 100% wool, the Lamia Sweatshirt is a cropped quarter zip with ribbed sleeve ends and bottom hem, and the Clarette Seamless full zip jacket has a moisture resistant fabric that moves with your body.
To complete the look – and the whole travel experience for that matter – is a variety of accessories too. To go along with things like backpacks, socks and a Team USA arm sleeve is the Betsy belt in bold and basic color options, the Tourey bucket hat with a flex fit sweatband, and the Garment Duffel Bag which is water resistant and has multi-functional compartments.
Lewty said that the brand is “honored to contribute to Team USA,” and based on these looks that have been earning high praise since they were first released, we’re inclined to believe him.
“The collection embodies the spirit of American excellence, innovation and competitive spirit, reflecting values we also hold at J.Lindeberg,” Lewty said.
