Extracurricular Golf is the celebration of time well spent. Classic apparel pieces that take you from the greens to cocktails, with a possible game of rummy in between. It is the latest creation from Chris Rosaasen who has his sights on changing the game…again.
FairwayStyles recently had the opportunity to speak with Chris about the brand and here's what he had to say.
Inspiration behind Extracurricular?
Chris Rosaasen:
Extracurricular is classic but with enough irreverence to keep everyone guessing. It's the point where JFK presence meets with Steve McQueen attitude. Wear on the course, or a late night in Vegas – where ever your extracurriculars take you we’ve got the apparel for it.
Describe the Extracurricular guy.
Chris Rosaasen:
Our guy is the one who likes to be noticed at second glance, not first. He’s not trying to be the center of attention but knows he looks good. He dresses for both comfort and performance. He can be found working hard, playing harder. He’ll happily go from a super yacht to a dive bar without complaint.
Where do you see the Extracurricular brand going now that you’ve launched?
Chris Rosaasen:
The possibilities are really endless. Over the next couple seasons we’ll start expand into more categories to round out our customers wardrobe. We’ll have him covered in golf, and all other extracurricular activities.
Describe the Extracurricular fit? Tailored, Modern etc.
Chris Rosaasen:
The Extracurricular fit is a modern fit, meant to fit all sizes.
What is the must have item(s) this upcoming season from Extracurricular? A color, a specific color way, print, piece?
Chris Rosaasen:
I’d say our hero piece of the season is definitely the Trophy polo. It’s the perfect mix of retro-classic and performance.
How did you come up with the name Extracurricular?
Chris Rosaasen:
To put it simply, Extracurricular embodies everything that our customer is. He’s probably a golfer, but he may just be a guy who wants to sit on the couch with a cold beer. The real answer, though? My wife came up with the name.
Talk about the signing/pairing of Extracurricular with Dustin Johnson.
Chris Rosaasen:
As cliché as it might sound, it really was all about timing. We were launching a brand as DJ’s Adidas contract was ending and he wanted to work with a brand that he could really put his DNA into. And truthfully there’s no better athlete that embodies the Extracurricular spirit.
Where do you see apparel going in the golf industry? Materials, Fabrication, Fit etc
Chris Rosaasen:
The innovation in the technology of fabric is really amazing and I think it’s only going to get better. I think we’re also going to see less micro-prints and slim fitting silhouettes (which we’re fine with.)
And finally, what is your favorite cocktail/mocktail of choice these days?
Chris Rosaasen:
I want to say tequila, rocks, fresh lime but the real answer is a glass (read: bottle) of Rose on the beach somewhere in the South of France.
