The second season of Netflix’s professional golf docuseries, Full Swing, is now streaming, and the show has once again stirred up plenty of conversation surrounding hot button topics like LIV golf, the Ryder Cup and the fact that Tom Kim sort of looks like he’s 12-years-old. Sorry Tom, we had to.
And in the process of taking viewers behind the scenes and into the lives of the best golfers on the planet, the hit series also gives us a good look at how some of these guys are dressing when they’re away from the golf course – or at least away from the spotlight of tournament play. We may or may not have needed to see Rickie Fowler in his 2 UNDR brand underwear in the locker room – yes, we saw Rickie’s undies! – but we got it anyway, along with plenty of other big names doing their thing in style like Justin Thomas, Colin Morikawa and Rory McIlroy.
DJ shows a little something extra
But perhaps the most eye-catching off-course wear came from Dustin Johnson, showing off all kinds of Extracurricular t-shirts, polos and pullovers. Like the blue Manny polo he was seen practicing in or the comfy-looking Tech Soft and Miller Hoodies he wore while chilling on his four-engine boat, appropriately called “just chillin.”
Much of the footage with DJ outside by himself actually came from a photoshoot for an exclusive line that Fairway Styles has with DJ and Extracurricular. Many of the polos were designed by us, and his clothing rack during the shoot gave us a quick look at some pieces like the Swift polo and the Cloak polo.
Other standouts
Another standout fashion moment came with Rickie Fowler during an at-home practice session when he was joined by his family. He is sporting Puma’s Palm Tree Crew Island Shirt, part of their new lifestyle brand that happens to fit well with a more grown up Fowler, but who still likes to have fun with his style.
Other behind-the-scenes fashion highlights from Full Swing include Rory McIlroy doing a production shoot in a simple yet sharp Nike Dri-Fit Victory Shirt in navy, with Justin Rose also going the simple route in a white Bonobos Performance Golf polo while hanging with his family in the backyard.
And for their sit-down interviews, Justin Thomas was looking casual in a navy Greyson Guide Sport tee, while Colin Morikawa was making us jealous of his comfiness in the Adidas Adicross Hoodie, similar to this one.
Ryder Cup drama
Full Swing also offered up a closer look at all of the drama that unfolded during the 2023 Ryder Cup at the end of Saturday’s matches, when Rory McIlroy became upset with American caddie Joe LaCava. But from a fashion standpoint, there was also some other drama bubbling just beneath the surface.
Because while the United States team was shown looking sharp in Ralph Lauren’s RLX line as their Ryder Cup uniforms, viewers also saw plenty of players like Justin Thomas and Luke Donald rocking their Greyson gear in various interviews. And since Greyson was founded by Charlie Schaefer, a longtime big-wig for Ralph Lauren who left to start his own brand and seemingly took Donald with him, a presumptive rivalry between RLX and Greyson has been brewing. One thing is for sure: both brands are on full display in Full Swing.
Fashion fore-ward
There may be no word yet on if the third season of Full Swing will happen, but there has already been plenty of chatter about who people would like to see profiled next.
